Our Story

BHM was established in 2006 and grew out of a collaboration between Rob Taylor and Pip Piper: BHM was set up to help develop a growing number of larger film projects and since its formation, has become an internationally recognized award winning film company for both documentary and feature film. Our ethos is simple, its all about people and stories , creating world class films that find growing audiences and enjoying together the journey we share with those who we travel with. We can also offer be spoke consultancy around the digital media landscape / crowdfunding and distribution and also productive use of social media.

Rob has extensive experience of executive level senior management and board leadership in an unusual mix of non for profit, commercial, and creative industries, local, national and international. He has a background of almost 25 years in the creative industries including tour and stage management, concert promotion, and artist management. He is a fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts and Chair of Punch Records, a major player in the world of Black and Asian music, art and street performance. As a former Chief Executive in the Third Sector, Rob continues to works as a consultant with Boards and Senior Management Teams specialising in corporate governance, organisational turnaround and business recovery.

image  Pip Piper

Pip has a background in professional youth and community work but has spent the last 17 years making films from education and commercial to documentary and feature film. It began with the formation of a media charity One Small Barking Dog, that set out to create with and for films for YP to explore their world. In 2006 he set up BHM with Rob Taylor to develop larger commercial film projects.  His passion is to discover and tell compelling stories', develop and work with great talent and to create films that communicate with impact to audiences far and wide.  Pip is also the CEO of the “Producers Forum” a member's led film and media based organization as well as a visiting lecturer on the Film Distribution and Marketing MA at Birmingham City Universality which he helped set up in 2013

image  Sarah Green

Sarah joined the One Small Barking Dog team in 2000, planning and delivering projects. In addition to OSBD, Sarah is now an Associate Producer for BHM.  Sarah is actively involved in helping to produce key films for BHM both in development  / production and post. She has gained considerable skills in these areas over the last several years and is a key person within the BHM team.

  Nina Jones

Nina Jones is a Film Graduate, who has been working for us on various projects spanning several years. Her main areas of interest are community based documentary and she is an experienced Camera editor. She also leads training workshops in film making for a wide variety of age groups and abilities. Alongside her work she is also developing her own films and we are looking forwarding to being a part of her work in the future.

David is an experienced Director of Photography who began working with us whilst studying film. He shot the 2nd Unit on our NZ Feature The Insatiable Moon and has worked on multiple features, shorts, commercials and music videos. His list of shooting credits include: Sony Playstation, Virgin Records & National Geographic.

Billy is a legend in the world of film making: a location sound recordist but so much more. A former long time band member and songwriter he brings a rich history and a keen eye and more importantly ear to the BH team across our drama and documentary films.

Debbie has worked with BHM for a number of years. She works with us as an art director and set designer and is very adaptable and creative especially when dealing with challenging budgets! She has a fine art degree and is also a qualified youth worker and a community artist.

Tim is a freelance filmmaker, video artist, VJ and photographer. He was one of the founders of one small barking dog media charity alongside Pip. Tim is a very able editor and camera person as well as a director and is involved in many of osbd and BH shoots and films.

Dom is a writer and director who has been working in the world of film making for over twenty years, currently part of the Film and Media Production teaching staff at Sheffield Hallam University, he balances work as a freelance DOP/director with his teaching. His working life in film has been complemented by a wide variety of other work experience, from actor, photographer, media artist, through sound engineer to Ireland’s worst flying trapeze artist. Climbing and film-making have been constants throughout. Dom is the writer and director for “American Direct”
